COOK ISLANDS: Environmental Science
Students from the University of Newcastle’s School of Environmental and Life Sciences joined an NCP-supported study tour to the Cook Islands, examining catchment management, water quality, and impacts on coastal ecosystems. Fieldwork in Rarotonga was coordinated with the Muri Environment Care, National Environment Service, and Ministry of Marine Resources. Students gained practical experience and met the Australian High Commission. Cultural activities enriched their understanding of local communities and traditions. |
SAMOA: Environmental Science
Students from the University of Newcastle’s School of Environmental and Life Sciences joined an NCP-supported study tour to Samoa, examining climate change impacts on coastal systems. Based on Upolu, they conducted geoscience fieldwork across key coastal sites, building practical skills in assessing climate risks. The program included visits to the Australian High Commission and Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme.
