Custom Programs Application Process

 

RESEARCH YOUR PROGRAM
Be sure to research the custom program you’d like to attend to learn about the destination, application deadlines, eligibility requirements, dates and more. STEP 1
Complete the CISaustralia Custom Program Online Application

STEP 2
After your application is received and reviewed by CISaustralia, you will be granted access to the CISaustralia Participant Portal. You will receive instructions via email for logging into the Participant Portal. In the Portal you will be required to complete the following:

  • Complete the CISaustralia Applicant Profile (online form)
  • Upload a copy of your passport photo page
  • Upload a copy of your unofficial university transcript
  • Review the document – University Specific Information
  • Review the document – Are You Prepared to Volunteer Abroad
    • *Applies to Custom Volunteer applications only

STEP 3
After you have completed the initial actions steps in your Participant Portal, CISaustralia will assess your application and give you a interview call to review your application. This will give us a chance to talk through the enrolment process in more detail, set expectations for all parties and answer any additional questions.

Successful applicants will receive a Program Offer (via the Participant Portal) and the program deposit will be due, this allows the team to tentatively secure you a place in your chosen program. An initial deposit of $500 applies to most volunteer and study abroad programs. The deposit is not an extra fee; it is part of your overall volunteer program fee. Applicants can refer to the Program Essentials document in their Portal for details on how to pay program fees.

*Some applicants will be required to pay their program fees directly to their university, please seek clarification from CISaustralia if you unsure who to pay your fees to.

STEP 4
After program deposit is received, additional action steps will be made available to you via your Participant Portal. Once they are complete, CISaustralia will send you an official Program Confirmation (via email) as well as information on what is required prior to departure.

STEP 5
Once Program Confirmation is received via email, you can go ahead make travel arrangements. STA will attempt to contact you to assist you with booking flights. For Custom programs, we HIGHLY recommend you book the group flight! A booking form for group flights will be made available to you via your Participant Portal.
You will be required to make program payments in accordance with the CISaustralia Fees and Payment Policy and full payment of program fees is due 60 days prior to the program start date, unless advised otherwise.
